【摘要】:Actualdirectmeasurementsofapparentviscosityandstressatshearratesofinterestcanbeusefulinthepracticalcontrolofinkviscosityduringproductionandthespecificationacceptancebetweensupplierandpurchaser.UseoftheDukeautomatedviscometerprovidesdirectmeasurementsforviscosityandyieldvalueversusextrapolatingdatapointsthatmaybefarfromthedesiredshearrates.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheprocedurefordeterminingtheviscosityofvarnishes,inkvehicles,andsimilarliquidsthatareessentiallynonvolatileandunreactiveunderordinaryroomconditionsusingtheDukeAutomatedhigh-shearrodandcollarviscometer.1.2Theinstrumentinthistestmethodissimilarinprincipletothefalling-rodviscometerdescribedinTestMethodD4040exceptthatthecollarismotordrivenandtherangeofavailableshearstressesisconsiderablygreater.Thisinstrumentiscapableofmeasuredandextrapolatedviscosityandyieldvaluesprovidedthepropermodelischosenforthegivenapplication.SeeSection6fortherangesofspecifiedmodels.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,thatmaybeassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishanyappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
